The sad truth: Oil runs the world. Energy could be a major U.S. export but our choices have led to a different route.
I do not believe that that is the real reason. That is just a side benefit and also another cover for the real reason.

You have piqued my interest, what is the real reason?
The city of Babylon must be rebuilt before Isaiah's prophecy of it being utterly destroyed comes to pass. The gathering to that whole region is the satanic counterpart of the Lord's call to "gather to Zion." Zion on one side of the world, Babylon on the other. Just as God must gather His saints to the New Jerusalem, the city of Zion, Satan will likewise have a central place, even the city of Babylon. He is inspiring the Master Mahan of his main secret combination to clear the region of the children of Abraham (sons of Ishmael) so that Babylon can be rebuilt. Although the Muslims may not worship Christ, as descendants of Abraham, they, like the Jews and other Israelites, come under Satan’s scope as main enemies. The oil in the region is just a tool that will be used to help build Babylon. It is not the main object. Also, as it was a gift of God to these descendants of Abraham, it is one more thing to steal from them, as yet another affront to God (by Satan) in using it to further satanic plans. Everybody on all sides is being used and deceived, thinking that this, that or the other is the reason for things happening, but the whole purpose is to set up the global government at Babylon so that Satan may rule the planet as he has planned all along to do, with blood and horror. The Syrians, Iranians, Iraquis and all other descendants of Abraham in the area are the last obstacle to Satan obtaining his evil purpose. This is why war will be instigated, to cleanse the area of the only human opposition capable of stalling or stopping the plan. Israel is being played as a fool, as are all those surrounding nations. The intent is to destroy them all, using their hatred as the fuel to get them fighting each other. We are also be played and deceived, which is why so many supported the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Unfortunately, from my perspective, the American government cannot be taken out of the hand of the devil until the secret combination is removed from it. And as no one is making the effort to remove the secret combination, but instead Congress and others have and are supporting it and uniting themselves to it, it will be up to the Lord to remove the secret combination from this country, by destroying the government, bringing us into tribal anarchy. However, it (the SC) will not be destroyed, merely it will relocate to Babylon, where the prophecies pronounced upon it and its anti-Christ leader will fulfill themselves, while we government-less Americans will follow a different path on this continent, fulfilling the Manassehite (Book of Mormon) and Ephraimite (D&C, Book of Commandments) prophecies that concern this part of the world, not that part. This is why the United States doesn’t seem to play a part in the final battle of Armageddon, because the United States will cease to exist prior to that. The SC, though, thinks it can frustrate God’s plans and prophecies, and enslave the people of this land as it has done in other lands, but they will not succeed here, though in other lands they will captivate many people. This is my understanding.

I thought you might say something like that and I agree with you to a point. Your comment: "The oil in the region is just a tool that will be used to help build Babylon " is correct as I understand it. However, your comment: "We are also be[ing] played and deceived" is more along the lines of what I was talking about. If you were to see into the minds of any of the warmongers who are instigating and perpetuating these conflicts, none would have the understanding we have. They are fighting for oil, being played as fools like you said, fulfilling Lucifer's grand plan, but none the less, they are fighting for oil.
There are, of course, those who see only their own little pictures who are duped into working for those who are looking at the big picture.
But these "little picture" players are not the ones calling the shots, either the people who are out in front of us, apparently calling the shots, or the real bosses behind the scenes who we never see. The grunts and paid assassins and those who are bought and paid with money, sex, drugs and other favors, those who are in the military and believe they "must obey" their orders no matter what, those who just get off on doing wicked little deeds (murder can be easily done in wartime without getting punished for it), those who are seeking for positions of authority over men (which is just about everyone) and those who are deceived into thinking this is bettering their country, etc., among these will be people interested in oil, because they are looking to make riches. In other words, they aren't rich themselves, so they desire what they don't have.
But those who are already rich, who are already oilmen or steelmen or however they or their fathers made their billions of dollars, these people, the elite, are not looking for more money. They have enough already to live many pleasure-filled lives. What they principally seek, then, is power over everyone. They want to be the bosses of the planet and its resources. They seek slaves, etc.
Although the person and people calling the shots, the inner circle, are not seen or known by the general populace, the ones we think are really calling the shots, the famous people, the elected officials, the presidents and rich CEO's and all those elite, these people are fully aware of the big picture of establishing a global government established over there in Iraq, and they want to be part of the ruling class, so they play the part they are given. It is all an act and a distraction.
For example, an oilman is chosen as president (not by us) and then invades Iraq. The operation is initially called Operation Iraqui Liberation (OIL), later changed. It is silly, but it is so that people digging deeper than the average citizen can make the connection, "Oh, this is about oil" and not realize that no, that, also, is but a deception.
War is not just a means to an end, it is an end in and of itself. Satan is all about war. "And in that day he shall rage in the hearts of the children of men." People are more easily controlled in war, so perpetual war is the doctrine of the day. Whether it is the "war on drugs" or a "war on terror," war is always the means that the secret combination uses to restructure society towards their ultimate goal.
One of the recommendations that what4anarchy always suggests, is to listen to Alan Watt's stuff (www.cuttingthroughthematrix.com) as he (Watt's) effectively cuts to the chase and helps to deprogram the listener so they can see through the lies. I'm currently writing a post dealing with the secret combination and will also be mentioning Watt, but this is what4anarchy's recommendation, not mine. Still, usually what4anarchy's recommendations are noteworthy.
One last thing, my understanding is that like the Lord, who says He will fulfill all His words, the devil also intends to do the same with his own words. So, all of the evil plans which have been laid from generations back (this is a generational thing), are never abandoned. They are merely laid aside for a time, to be taken up and implemented when it is finally feasible to do so. So, these actors, playing their parts, are aware of much of the big picture. They aren't, of course, the Master Mahan, receiving direct instructions from the devil himself, as Gadianton did, but they know enough to understand that this phase is the acting phase, while the later phases will be the unveiling and ruling stages, when they plan on ruling as gods upon this planet.
Again, I agree with you to a point. I have thought long and hard about this in the past. How could it be that there is a vast worldwide conspiracy, infiltrating (as some would say) every government of city, state, and country? How could it survive in the shadows? Is the world so devoid of good that there is no one to stand up to this? No one to expose it? It just did not add up. Though I knew there had to be some, I did not believe the commonly held belief that there is a large group of people that have world domination on their minds (CFR, Trilaterals, Council of 300, etc.) and all others do their bidding. If it was really that bad, why is the world still functioning? The world would have collapsed a long time ago. The more I thought on it, the less it made sense.
Then I read an excellent book: Confessions of an Economic Hitman, by John Perkins. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has not read it. I will quote a small portion of the preface, from pages xii-xiii.
"Some would blame our current problems on an organized conspiracy. I wish it were so simple. Members of a conspiracy can be rooted out and brought to justice. This system, however, is fueled by something far more dangerous than conspiracy. It is driven not by a small band of men but by a concept that has become accepted as gospel: the idea that all economic growth benefits humankind and that the greater the growth, the more widespread the benefits. This belief also has a corollary: that those people who excel at stoking the fires of the economic growth should be exalted and rewarded, while those born at the fringes are available for exploitation…In their drive to advance the global empire, corporations, banks and governments use their financial and political muscle to ensure that our school, businesses, and media support both the fallacious concept and its corollary. They have brought us to a point where our global culture is a monstrous machine that requires exponentially increasing amounts of fuel and maintenance…"
This is when it all clicked for me. Though you are right in there being a master plan of world domination (which has been the goal of near every powerful government) they do not need to convince others to join their secret society, they have it taught in our schools and universities. They breed our children from the time they enter public school to the time they graduate university. They perpetuate it by advancing in business those that further their goals.

I would imagine most of these people are being played as pawns. Very few probably understand what is really happening. The devil is a deceiver, it would not be like him to be truthful with all these people telling them his plans, he would deceive them, blind them with riches and power, then send them out to do his bidding.
In conclusion, I agree with you, the end goal of these wars is as you say, but I do not agree with you in believing all of these people understand that. I believe they are fighting for money and power, for government contracts in foreign countries, and ultimately for oil, which they all need to perpetuate their evil design. This will in the end, though they do not know it now, build the foundations for Lucifer as he makes his final all out assault prior to the return of our Lord.

I'd agree that most people who are doing the devil's bidding are probably completely unaware of the true motivator. I've been reading a book - Science Fantasy, not real or supposed to be real in anyway.
One of the main antagonists believes he is working for the benefit of the "good" when in fact he is working completely for "evil".
It is truth that many people in this world are performing "acts of kindness" that are in fact harmful to the recipient's long term welfare. These people believe they are working for the good of mankind. I don't think there are many who believe they are doing evil for the sake of evil.

No one really can know what a person knows or does not know, anyway. The best we can do is look at a person's associations, their words and their actions, and come to some conclusion as to whether they are part of the inner circle or part of one of the outer circles. But how much information they've been given, or how much information they've gleaned, is anyone's guess.
As you say, everyone is being deceived by Satan, even those on the very inside. And as the devil plays upon our human weaknesses, we are led many times according to our base desires.
For me, the thing is that many of our leaders are prepped and groomed and chosen long before they ever appear in front of us, by collectivist organizations, which have published and still do publish many of their collectivist goals and plans, so it is kind of hard (for me) to say, when I see the associations and actions, that so-and-so is acting independently of the sc, when he associates with those who are aligned with it. There is always that possibility, of course, but usually those who act independently are vilified and invaded. For example, Chavez comes to mind. His people, apparently, love him, but he is vilified by others because he doesn't bow to the sc's demands. The middle eastern nations also do not, to a great extent, bow down to the sc. So, they get invaded. Chavez's time will come, too.
I think there are a lot of variables and not everything can be attributed directly to any of the various sc's out there, but my observations are that the major occurrences that happen are more often than not their handiwork. Almost all crises in Christian nations are manufactured on some level, either through funding to that end or more direct involvement, including this latest wall street crisis.
So, using oil as the reason for the invasion means that we must be having an energy crisis. This is their modus operandi. First you manufacture a crisis, then supply the solution, which furthers your plans of the restructuring of society. The stated reason is weapons of mass destruction. The underlying, unstated reason is we need oil to stave off our energy crisis. The real, hidden reason is the removing of the lands of Babylon from the seed of Abraham to re-establish it as the preeminent wonder and center of the world.

May be I am naive, or may be I just try to give everyone the benefit of a doubt, I don't know. Whether they know what they are doing or not, they are advancing the plan of the devil.

I agree most people think they are doing good, even when doing the exact opposite. John Perkins book goes into this as he talks about why people like him are no longer needed. There is a whole generation of people coming out of the universities and going into the work force who think the things they are doing are are for the betterment of society, when in fact they decimate cultures and countries.

It is easy to look at material goods in the terms of current monetary systems; gold, silver = dollars per ounce, oil = dollars per barrel, etc. I do not believe the people fighting these wars for the oil are doing it to get rich. As you stated in a previous comment, they have plenty enough money to live several lavish lifetimes. I believe there are other reasons, oil makes our world turn. Food is grown and distributed by oil. Water is purified and distributed by oil. In many places, electricity is generated and distributed by oil. Wars are fought with oil. He who controls the oil controls a lot more than dollars in a bank account. For someone like me and most people I know, if I were to invest in oil it would be for profit, I would watch the oil index closely. If I were a prince in Saudi Arabia, with a big palace, lots of race horses, a one exotic car for every day of the year, I would do the same. If, however, I was looking to control the world, I would look at oil as the means to do that. I would not care so much about how much it cost, but how much I controlled compared to how much my enemies controlled. If my enemies controlled more than me, I would go to war. When I controlled all the oil, I would have no enemies.

That's why Saudi Arabia (for instance) cannot be a democracy or a source of technical innovation. Nor will it ever till they either run out of oil or the world doesn't need their oil anymore.
